Your level defines your scope:
As a Senior
You’ll own key services, take the lead on technical decisions within your domain, and build the experience needed to step into leadership.
As a Lead
You’ll define backend direction, raise standards across the team, and guide developers while staying close to the code.

What you’ll be working on
Designing services that support high traffic and high order volumes
Building APIs used across multiple brands and products
Improving performance, scalability and reliability
Supporting migrations from legacy systems to a modern architecture

Supporting both new builds and live platform improvements
If Lead level:
Mentoring developers and improving standards

A Senior Backend Developer ready for more ownership
Or a Lead looking for more impact and less red tape
You’ll be comfortable with:
JavaScript, Node.js and TypeScript
AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, RDS, S3)
API design and backend systems
Debugging and performance optimisation
Nice to have:
Experience mentoring or leading
Exposure to ecommerce or high-scale systems
Infrastructure as code (Terraform or similar)
